The Bristol Riots
In 2023 Helen McConnell Simpson, Senior Curator at M Shed in Bristol, asked us to make a film about the riots of 1832 in Bristol. Realising the riots were on a similar scale to Peterloo, but almost unknown, we jumped at the chance to get involved and draw more attention to them.
The film was to play as an installation, as visitors worked their way around a physical exhibit. We knew there was a lot of story to tell and decided it would be better to split it into sections, which would spur visitors to work their way around the room as they followed the narrative.
To keep within budget we used a dynamic comic book approach, with instances of character animation throughout. Hannah Holliman did a great job storyboarding all of this. Below you’ll find the names of the great team who came together to provide everything else.
